Do I need a credit card to try Pro?

Accepted Answer

No. The 7-day Pro trial is no-card. Start it from the iOS or Android app, use Pro features, and decide on day 7 whether to subscribe. If you don't, your account drops to the free tier with everything you saved still intact.

How do I get a refund?

Accepted Answer

For App Store and Google Play subscriptions, refunds are handled by Apple/Google directly through their support flow (usually approved within 48 hours for first-time customers). For direct billing through the web app, email hello@thetuck.app within 14 days of purchase and we issue a full refund, no questions.

How does the Family plan work?

Accepted Answer

Family is one subscription that covers up to 3 users, each with their own Tuck account. The plan owner manages billing; every other member signs in with their own email and has a private library by default. You can opt into shared collections per-member if you want a household reading list.

Question 4

Is there a student discount?

Accepted Answer

Yes. 50% off Pro for students with a valid .edu (or equivalent) email address. Email students@thetuck.app with proof of enrollment and we send you a discount code that locks your rate for as long as you stay subscribed.

Question 5

Should I subscribe through the App Store or buy direct?

Accepted Answer

Both work. App Store / Play Store billing is convenient (Apple/Google handle invoicing and the trial flow), but Apple takes 30%, which we eat. Direct billing through the web app (Stripe) is the same price to you, slightly more sustainable for us, and lets us issue refunds faster.

How do I cancel?

If you bought through the App Store: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Tuck → Cancel. Google Play: Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Tuck → Cancel. Direct billing: thetuck.app account page → Subscription → Cancel. You keep Pro features until the end of the billing period.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

Accepted Answer

Nothing changes for free-tier users; your articles, highlights, tags, and notes all stay. You just lose Pro features (offline mode, AI summaries, text-to-speech, unlimited highlights) until you resubscribe. Export is always free, regardless of plan.

Question 8

If I sign up at €4.99/mo today, does my price renew at the same rate?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We price-lock subscribers; your monthly or annual rate stays the same as long as you remain continuously subscribed. If we ever raise prices, you keep the rate you signed up at; only new subscribers see the new price.

Question 9

Are prices including VAT / tax?

Accepted Answer

Listed prices are excluding VAT. We charge VAT based on your billing address (EU customers see the local VAT rate at checkout). Business customers in the EU can enter a VAT number to reverse-charge. App Store / Play Store prices include the local tax already; those are the customer-facing totals.

Question 10

Can I upgrade or downgrade in the middle of a billing cycle?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately and we prorate the difference (you only pay for the days remaining in the cycle at the new rate). Downgrades take effect at the end of the current cycle so you don't lose features mid-month.
