What does Tuck not do?

Tuck doesn't have a social feed (no following authors, no friends-feed). It doesn't have spaced-repetition flashcards (Readwise does that better). It doesn't host its own video player or render PDFs natively. We're a read-later app, and those are conscious scope choices.

Can I import from Pocket?

No, and we won't pretend otherwise. Mozilla disabled Pocket saving on July 8, 2025 and permanently deleted all user data on November 12, 2025; there is nothing left to upload. Will my highlights come across?

Accepted Answer

Depends on the source. Readwise / Reader, Matter, and Omnivore all include highlights in their exports, and those import as native Tuck highlights with text, color, and per-passage notes preserved. Pocket and Instapaper don't include highlights in their exports (no app can recover them), but the article URLs come over so you can re-highlight while reading.

How long does the import take?

Under a minute for most libraries. A 5,000-article Pocket export takes about 30 seconds end-to-end. Tuck imports the metadata first (so you can browse immediately), then back-fills full article text in the background over the next few minutes.

Can I undo an import?

Yes. Settings → Library → Bulk delete by import batch. Each migration is tagged with a timestamp so you can roll back a specific import without touching anything you saved manually.

Pro plans pre-cache the full text and cover image of every saved article on first sync. Reading, highlighting, and note-taking all work without a connection; anything you do offline syncs the moment you reconnect. Good for getting the gist of a 2,000–6,000 word article in 30 seconds. They're worse than reading the article, better than not reading it. We use them to triage: summarize first, decide whether to invest the 12-minute read.

Yes. Pro plans get a Q&A panel that answers from the article text only (not the open web). Useful for "what was the methodology section?" or "did they mention specific dollar figures?" without re-scanning the whole piece.

Native iOS and Android voices: they sound near-human and run on-device, so battery hit is minimal and there's no streaming delay. Adjustable rate (0.5×–2×), background playback, lock-screen controls, sleep timer. Most TTS users finish 3× more articles a week.

How does the newsletter inbox work?

Pro accounts get a personal address at you@in.thetuck.app. Subscribe to newsletters there, they arrive in your Tuck library instead of your Gmail. Threads, replies, unsubscribe links: all preserved. Same reader, same highlights, same offline.

Yes. Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. One-click save with optional tag input. Quick-highlight from the original page is handy for paywalled content where Tuck's reader can't pull the full text.

How do I cancel?

App Store: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Tuck → Cancel. Google Play: Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Tuck → Cancel. Direct billing: thetuck.app account page → Subscription → Cancel. You keep Pro until the end of the billing period.

Can I get a refund?

App Store and Google Play subscriptions are refunded by Apple/Google directly through their support flow (usually approved within 48 hours). Direct billing through the web app: email hello@thetuck.app within 14 days of purchase for a full refund, no questions.

No. We price-lock subscribers. Your rate stays the same as long as you remain continuously subscribed. If we ever raise prices, you keep the rate you signed up at; only new subscribers see the new price.

Where is my data stored?

Supabase, hosted in the EU (Frankfurt). Backups every 6 hours, retained for 30 days. We picked EU hosting on purpose: GDPR-by-default, and physically away from US-only data-request regimes.

Do you train AI models on my saved articles or highlights?

No, never. AI features (summaries, Q&A) send the article text to the model only when you tap the button, and we use providers that contractually don't train on inference traffic (Anthropic, OpenAI's no-training-by-default tier). Your data isn't used for any model training, ever.

Can you read my saved articles?

Technically yes (we hold the database keys), in practice no. Tuck staff don't browse user libraries. Access logs are reviewed quarterly. If you'd rather not trust that, the export-everything-to-Markdown option gives you an offline copy you can then delete from Tuck.

How do I delete my account?

Settings → Account → Delete account. We immediately mark the account inactive and queue full deletion within 30 days (the window lets you recover from a misclick). After 30 days, articles, highlights, notes, and account metadata are permanently gone, including from backups within the next backup-rotation cycle.

What analytics do you collect?

Anonymous product analytics via Plausible: page views and outbound link clicks only. No cookies, no fingerprinting, no IP storage, no personal identifiers. There is nothing to opt out of because there is nothing personal collected. We never log saved-article content, highlights, or email content.

Which platforms do you support?

iPhone (iOS 16+), iPad, Android phone (Android 10+), Android tablet, and the web (any modern browser including mobile Safari and Chrome). Native macOS and Windows desktop apps are on the roadmap for early 2026; for now the web app is PWA-installable on both.

A public REST API for save + read is shipping in Q2 2026. Pro plans get a personal API key for scripts, automation, and third-party integrations. No public roadmap for write-everything endpoints yet; security review takes time.

Does Tuck integrate with Notion / Obsidian / Roam?

Indirectly. Every Tuck highlight exports as Markdown, which works in all of those tools. We don't ship native two-way integrations (Readwise Reader is the right tool if that's the workflow). For one-way Markdown export, every Tuck plan supports it.

Why isn't there a Linux desktop app?

The web app works in every Linux browser (Firefox, Chromium, GNOME Web). PWA install on GNOME Web gives you a windowed app experience. A dedicated Electron app for Linux is unlikely; there's not enough demand to justify the maintenance cost.

Can Tuck save paywalled articles?

For sites that allow personal-use archiving via subscriber cookies (NYT, FT, The Atlantic, etc.), the browser extension can grab the full text from your authenticated session and ship it to Tuck. For sites that block all archiving, Tuck saves the URL and falls back to the open page; your subscription does the unlocking.
